Yoji Hoshino.
Remedial Massage Therapist
My passion for sports therapy started on the basketball court during my high school years in Japan. Seeing close teammates sidelined by injuries and wanting to help them recover so we could keep playing together inspired me to pursue a career in rehabilitation, athletic performance, and injury prevention.
Since then, I’ve gained more than 16 years of experience across Japan, China, and Australia, working with everyone from everyday patients to elite athletes. My background includes working as a Conditioning Coach and Athletic Trainer with Japanese professional soccer teams, the Japan National Basketball Team, the China U-17 National Soccer Team, professional sports academies, and athletes across rugby, American football, volleyball, tennis, baseball, running, and marathon training.
I’ve also worked extensively in orthopaedic rehabilitation and sports medicine clinics, helping people manage injuries, chronic tightness, pain, and movement problems. Alongside my clinical work, I spent several years teaching at a vocational college in Japan, where I helped educate and mentor future certified athletic trainers.
At Tan Chiro, I bring together my experience in high-performance sport and everyday rehabilitation to create treatment plans tailored to each person. I have a particular interest in posture and movement analysis, using techniques such as remedial massage, deep tissue therapy, myofascial and soft tissue release, functional rehabilitation, and corrective exercise to address not only where you feel discomfort, but also the underlying movement patterns that may be contributing to it.
Whether you’re an athlete looking to recover and perform at your best, an active person dealing with an injury, or someone experiencing ongoing neck, shoulder, or lower back discomfort, my goal is to help you move more comfortably, build resilience, and get back to doing the things you enjoy.
When I’m not working with patients, I love discovering great local coffee and food, travelling, spending time with my family, and relaxing with my two cats.
Techniques I use and have been trained in are:

Myofascial Release
Soft Tissue Release
